Staffing Number and Tasks: We have a full staff of 4 equine veterinary assistants; 2 CVT's; 2 receptionists and support staff.
Type of Practice: We are a referral equine practice with a primary ambulatory component. There is also a small animal facility with 3 veterinarians.

Facilities: We have a 13 stall hospital, an indoor arena, surgery suite, stocks, indoor treatment, endoscope, shock wave, digital radiography, ultrasound, etc. We are associated with a three veterinarian small animal clinic.

Goals of Externship:
Provide an educational private practice experience for students interested primarily in equine industry of veterinary medicine with the option of small animal exposure.

Prerequisites for Externship:
Veterinary student in good standing.

Anytime, the majority of students extern for a two week block.

Practice Responsibilities to the Extern:
Provide an educational experience and worthwhile externship to the students who take time to visit.

Externship Responsibilities to the Practice:
Assist with hospitalized patients treatments and evaluations during regular working hours. Assist with either hospital out-patients or ambulatory calls during regular working hours. Externs are encouraged to assist in emergency ambulatory calls as well as ICU after-hours patient monitoring.
