Dr. Lawrence Buggia, co-owner of Annabessacook Veterinary Clinic, is a graduate of Michigan State School of Veterinary Medicine. He started our clinic in 1980 and has always had a compassion for a wide variety of animals and the people who take care of them. In his spare time, he can be found actively involved in the Monmouth Historical Society, helping to keep the Monmouth Museum in great shape. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1972 and has practiced veterinary medicine in Maine for 36 years. Dr. Buggia practices primarily in the small animal clinic, but can also be found treating goats, pigs, and our equine patients. While usually very busy at work, he sometimes finds time to go kayaking, and is very active with the Monmouth Museum. He maintains his fascinating and informative veterinary blog website at barnyardvet.com, and will readily give educational talks to schools and 4-H groups as well as give tours of our facility. His own animals include Maggie, the Jack Russel Terrier, a 19 year old orange tabby cat named Alex, 2 miniature horses named Toppes and Pete, and 1 stubborn miniature donkey named Gregory.
Dr. Charmaine "Charlie" Brown, co-owner of Annabessacook Veterinary Clinic, hails from Nebraska, and graduated from Iowa State School of Veterinary Medicine in 1986 . She joined ABC shortly thereafter becoming partner and developing the practice into what it is today. She is an accomplished equine and small animal surgeon who is also focused on the latest in modern equine medicine. KDM Farm, her equine reproductive facility, is just a few miles away. Away from the clinic you can find Charlie riding one of her horses or her Harley, or scuba diving in the warm waters of the sunny tropics. At home, besides her husband and two sons, dachshunds Madchen and Millenium, Siberian husky Timber, and Sam the Macaw keep Charlie busy.Dr. Brown feeding a premature foal
Dr. Boulton is a 1976 graduate of Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a surgical residency at the University of Missouri and has been a member of the surgical faculty of both the University of Missouri and Washington State University. As a member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Dr Boulton is a specialist who adds over 25 years of experience in equine surgery to our team. He has practiced on both the East and West coast gaining experience with all breeds.
Dr. Fay moving a horse for colic surgery. Dr. Jeff Fay started his veterinary career after earning his Ph.D. in Reproduction and Endocrinology at the University of Kentucky. He also taught there for several years. He then earned his DVM at Colorado State University and has been practicing here at ABC since February 1995. He lives with his wife Linda and their corgies and miniature daschund and multiple horses. He loves to spend time with his daughters and their competitive equestrian activities.
Dr. Karen Lipovsky joined the Annabessacook Veterinary Clinic family in the summer of 2007 and has been enjoying meeting the cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and other patients of the small animal clinic, as well as all their people! Small animal surgery and ultrasonic imaging are interests she continues to develop. She is a graduate of Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, and grew up in Maryland, but has been relishing the beautiful region of central Maine. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Lipovsky can be found in a performance in Cumston Hall, kayaking, or jogging along the winding side roads with her husband, John. Her home is kep busy with her 3 cats, Larry Bird, Pistol Pete, and Rudy, and her 3 dogs--Reggie the aging pug, Butternut the mid-life mutt, and Griffin the young boxer-mastiff.
Dr. Sally Ann Earl-Costello, a small animal veterinarian, has been working at our clinic since July 1994. She earned her veterinary degree at the University of Georgia. Prior to joining us, she was in practice in Georgia. Her past life experiences include 7 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and teaching at several New England Colleges. She has a strong interest in small animal reproduction and animal behavior. Away from the clinic, Dr. Sally Ann trains for and competes in retriever field trials in the United States and Canada. At home, she spends time with her husband of 27 years, 6 black labs, 2 Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, and a cat who thinks he's a dog. Not to be forgotten, they also have a wonderful daughter, of the human kind!
Dr. Stephanie Robitaille is the newest veterinarian to join the Annabessacook family. She earned her Bachelor degree of Science in biology from Simmons college, then earned the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Atlantic Veterinary College. During her childhood, she volunteered for several years at the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, then worked for 3 years there after undergraduate college. Dr. Robitaille's veterinary interests are dermatology, small mammals like rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, ets., and she holds a huge space in her heart for cats. Away from the clinic, you may find Dr. Robitaille hiking, camping, running, or just about anything outdoors. She shares her home with her husband, her cat Stella, a springer/pointer cross named Molly, and Payton the Dachshund.
