Project Pet SlimDown is a new weight loss approach sponsored by the makers of Purina Pet foods and Purina Veterinary Diets. Annabessacook Veterinary clinic has teamed up with Purina to challenge our patients to slim down and trim up for improved health and longevity. We are ready to answer any questions you have about helping your pet lose weight. Two veterinary technicians, Sonja and Melinda, are acting as our official SlimDown liasons for you and your pet. They can set up useful feeding plans and excercise options. If you are interested in starting this new program, please let us know! During your pet's annual or semi-annual exam (or at any time during the year), we can assess his/her body condition score and note his body weight. With the Pet SlimDown Challenge, we will design a specific feeding and excercise regimen. Every 2-4 weeks after the initial visit, we will track your pet's weight and adjust the diet accordingly. For those of you who enjoy social media such as Facebook, with your consent, we will post your pets progress on our Facebook page. Mitty A sweet and slim Mitty, currently plateauing in her weight here on July 1, but looking lovely as ever! Mid-June--Mitty has lost 1 lb in the last 2 weeks! She's a little shy in this image, but she's really very proud. Mitty's dad has noticed a real change in Mitty's energy level--she's much more active with 1 less pound to carry around! May 20, 2011: Top view of Mitty--on her first day of Project Pet SlimDown! Reluctant Mitty on her first day--always hard to get a cat to pose the way you want them to! Mitty in early June--about 2 weeks into her SlimDown--she's lost 1/3 lb! That's a lot for a cat! Mitty is feeling slimmer, and just a little less reluctant to pose for the camera.

Boomer Very happy Boomer during his 2 week weight check--he's lost almost 5 1/2 lbs already! A very slim-looking boy--and he's almost 14 years old! Boomer has lost 2 more pounds since he last saw us! You can just start to see Boomer's waist in this view.
Hudson Meet Hudson--a very big love of a dog. Hudson is over 120 lb and he's just under 8 years old. his mom already can see that his hind legs are trembling from carrying that extra weight. We're hoping to help Hudson lose 40 lb and get him moving around much easier!
