"Two more dry dog foods have been recalled due to high aflatoxin levels, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Petrus Feed and Seed Store, Inc. announced a recall of its 21% Protein Dog Food in 40-pound Petrus Feed bags. The affected products were manufactured at Cargill’s manufacturing facility located in LeCompte, La., between December 1, 2010 and December 1, 2011. The recall originally applied to lot numbers, 4K1011 through 4K1307. Updated lot numbers are 4K1011 through 4K1335. The affected product was distributed in Petrus Feed and Seed in Alexandria, La.
O’Neal’s Feeders Supply, Inc. has also recalled its dry Arrow brand dog food due to high aflatoxin levels. The affected products were manufactured between Dec. 1, 2010, and Dec. 1, 2011. No illnesses have been reported in association with these products to date. Affected products include: Arrow brand 21% Dog Chunks, SKU #807, 40-pound bag; Arrow brand Super Proeaux Dog Food, SKU #812, 40-pound bag; Arrow brand Professional Formula Dog Food, SKU #814, 50-pound bag. The recall only applies to products with lot numbers 4K0341 through 4K0365 and 04K1001 through 4K1325. The products were distributed in Louisiana and Texas.
Aflatoxin is a naturally occurring mold by-product. Pets that have consumed any of the above recalled products and exhibit symptoms of illness including sluggishness or lethargy combined with a reluctance to eat, vomiting, yellowish tint to the eyes or gums, or diarrhea should be seen by a veterinarian.
No illnesses have been reported in connection with either recall, and consumers are encouraged to contact the individual companies with additional questions or concerns. "

"Mason, Ohio — The Proctor & Gamble Company (P&G) is voluntarily recalling a single production lot of its Iams ProActive Health Smart Puppy dry dog food.
The Dec. 6 recall is attributed to aflatoxin levels that were detected above the acceptable limits, according to P&G.
The affected lots include 7-pound bags with the UPC Code 1901402305, 8-pound bags with the UPC Code 1901410208, and 17.5-pound bags with the UPC Code 1901401848. They were distributed to a limited number of retailers in the eastern United States (Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Maine, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia). All the affected products has already been retrieved from store shelves, says P&G, and no illnesses have been reported in association with the recall. "
